If you are a member of KZUM, you are entitled to vote for any proposed by-law changes or new board members of the organization. In September at our Annual Meeting, we opened the floor to nominations for the three open seats on the Sunrise Communications Board of Directors. There were no nominations from the floor, so the three people that were brought to the board as candidates from the Nominations Committee were automatically seated on the Board which will begin its term in 2012. KZUM welcomes [or re-welcomes] the following people, and wants to thank John Gilliam and Ryan Evans for their service on the board as their hard work comes to an end.
Even though his term on the board was due to end, our current Treasurer, Matt Joy, has agreed to serve another 3-year term. As a very valuable member of the team, Matt is a hard worker and has been a continuous supporter of the station for many years and we are very lucky to have him continue at the table.
Mickey Stubblefield was born in Mayfield, KY, and raised in McCook, NE before he moved to Lincoln in 1969. As owner of picture framing equipment, he has spent more than 10 years donating framed pictures to community centers, youth and crisis centers in the area. In the past, Mickey worked with Steve Alvis [former general manager] to secure donations of valuable and rare prints for fundraising events, along with framing band pictures for the KZUM business offices.
Mickey is also a graduate of “Leadership Lincoln Project ALL class - year four; and is proud to have had a cousin who was a DJ for KZUM at the 23rd and “D” Street location.
Lee Manns was born and raised in North Dakota, but she has lived in Lincoln for over 25 years now all the while working at UNL's Extended Education, in various positions. Lee and her husband do not have children, but have a dog named Newley (he's named after the handsome young deputy on Gunsmoke). She loves to travel, cook, listen to music, read, and watch movies. She has served on the board of trustees at her church for 3 years as a member, and as the board president during her 4th year.
She believes a station such as KZUM is vital to the community, and is a great outlet for local voices. She knows it’s important to provide music and views that are not represented on other stations and she would like to try to get more members to actively volunteer at station events. She would also like to see KZUM to be an even bigger presence in the Lincoln community than it already is - - at more concerts, festivals, and other community events.
