The Wimmin's Show

Sundays: 11:30am - 1:30pm
Hosts: Deb Andersen & Rachel West

The Wimmin's Show started in 1978 on a dare that women couldn't do a radio show that featured only women's music. Several women including Linda Schaaf, PT Martin, and Anna Chopek disagreed and began to program a show that featured women's music, news and information. Several women over the years kept the show on the air, but in 1984 Deb Andersen moved to Lincoln from Madison WI. She had been the programmer for a show on WORT in Madison called Her Infinite Variety, which she had been doing since 1977. Her experience with doing radio and her record collecting as well as being a percussionist, made her the perfect person to continue guiding the show. Over the years many women have been programmers on the Wimmin's Show, including Pat Mirenda, Gina Matkin, Eldonna Raybun, Sally Vanderslice and Rachel McClain. The show is an eclectic mix of music by women of all genres including music and info relevant to the LGBTQA community. We feature live in the studio performances by local and national artists, as well as several guest programmers such as Emily Fernbaugh, and Carol Griswold, who lend a different perspective to the show. We welcome two new programmers, Lenna Pierce and Rachel West, who will keep the show fresh and relevant. And we just recently started a group page on Facebook that gives us a immediate connection to our listeners from around the country and the world. The Wimmin's Show will keep you entertained with a wide variety of music and information on a local and global scale. Please Join us every Sunday from 11:30am to 1:30pm on KZUM 89.3 FM. or online. Thanks! and keep listening!
